GEA National College was established on the 12th
day of May in 2002. Initially the institution was known as Guwahati Engineering Academy.
Later it was renamed as GEA
National College. The first inaugural advertisement of the
institution was published in The Assam Tribune on 12th
May 2002.
The main motto of the institution is to provide
educational services to the people of Assam and North-East
India. However, students from other places of India are also
studying at GEA National College.
Initially,
the institution
offered
some
Certificate and Diploma
level courses in the fields of
Information Technology.
Gradually, the
Institution had started UG, PG and Diploma courses under some prestigious
Government Universities like Gauhati
University IDOL, DDE Dibrugarh University, K.K. Handique
State Open University.
The institution
also had an experience of running an ITI
under State Council for Vocational Training, Govt. of Assam.
The Dibrugarh
University also conducted their examinations under its
distance education at GEA National College for several
years.
In the year 2016,
the Government of Assam permitted GEA National College to start a
Para-Medical College in the fields of Physiotherapy & Medical
Laboratory Technology.
Subsequently in May
2017, the College got affiliation from the one & only
Government health University of Assam i.e. “Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences” under which all
Govt. medical colleges of Assam are running their courses
including Gauhati Medical College (GMC), Assam Medical
College (AMC) , Silchar Medical College (SMC), Jorhat
Medical College (JMC), Tezpur Medical College (TMC) and
Barpeta Medical College (FAAMC).
The institution has
a high class infrastructure for the departments of Medical
Laboratory Technology and Physiotherapy. Our paramedical
departments, its laboratories and its infrastructures are
approved by Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and
Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of Assam.

"Clinical Posting" Arrangements :
"Internship" &
"Clinical Posting" Facilities will be provided as much as
required to each and every student. During Internship period
a student will have to work full time (8 hours a day) in a
hospital or diagnostic centre where he/she will get an
opportunity to get commercial experience by giving services
to different types of patients. After doing this kind of
internships, a student becomes ready to work in the industry
with knowledge, experience and confidence.
In recent years,
our students have done various Internships or Clinical

every student. Besides, the College is giving utmost effort
to improve the quality of the students in Communication and

order to enhance the general knowledge, self confidence
and communication skills of the students.

Hostel
:
Separate boys
hostel and girls hostel are available with all modern
facilities and securities. These hostels are fully
secured from all aspects. A senior hostel warden is
available for proper supervision and control of these
hostels. Parents and guardians need not to be worried
about their children while they are in College hostel.

Education Loan :
The College
provides assistance to the students to avail Educational
Loan. In this regard, students are required to approach
the college authority with proper documents.
Student ID Card :
Identity Cards
are issued to the newly admitted students on payment of
Rs.150. A separate form needs to be filled up by the
students along with a passport size photograph. Proof of
“Postal Address” (Photostat copy) is to be attached with
the form.
Compulsory Attendance for students:
Classes are
provided on regular basis from Monday to Saturday except
holidays which is mentioned in the college calendar.
Internship may not be allowed to those students whose
attendance is very poor in “Daily Classes” and also in
regular “Exams/Tests”. Good number of class attendance
is compulsory to appear in the “final examination”. The
minimum percentage of attendance which is compulsory to
appear in the exam is fixed by the University/College
authority.
College
Holidays :
The College
has its own “holiday list” which is given in the yearly
Calendar. Students and parents are requested to follow
that list.
Presentation
Classes for the students :
Presentation
is an indispensable segment of our training methodology.
In this segment, every student is given a topic and the
students need to collect information on that particular
topic and he or she has to give a presentation on the
given topic. Through this, students can learn how to
search information on a particular topic and by giving
such presentation in front of teachers and other
students, they can increase their confidence, smartness
and improve their presentation skill and communication
abilities. Normally every student has to give one or two
presentation on every subject in a month.
Ragging - A punishable offence :
Students
should abide by rules, conduct and discipline inside the
college and in public places. Ragging is strictly
prohibited here. If anybody is found guilty in any
ragging incident, one shall be liable to expulsion and
legal action.
Audio-Visual
Class Room :
Audio-Visual
class rooms are available in the College equipped with
projectors, audio systems and computer systems. These
rooms are basically used for various presentations to
students for better understanding. Students need to give
regular presentations once in every week on their
respective subjects.
Scholarship :
The College
provides assistance to the students to avail various
State and Central governments scholarships including
local scholarships from MLA, Councils, etc. In this
regard, students are required to approach the college
authority with proper documents.
